HI! My name is Venus.
As an officiant and as a Celebrant, my job is to research, customize, write, and perform a one-of-a-kind ceremony for you.
As an ordained non-denominational officiant certified by the Celebrant USA Foundation, I want to create and/or perform your ceremony, your way. I am authorized to solemnize marriages in California. Most of my experience is in conducting ceremonies for marriage, as well as for betrothal/engagement, LGBT commitment/life union, vow renewal, and second marriages (and beyond!) for Weddings and Couples.
I have also officiated, and am available to officiate, any funeral/memorial, baby naming, family, animal/pet, dedication, and tribute service, and for most any other private, civic, or public occasion. Please see ALL OCCASIONS for more information.
THE CEREMONY
Many people overlook the importance of the ceremony and some people just want to 'get it over with'. However, if one thinks about it, the reason why everyone gathers their loved ones together at a ceremony is to have them all witness a change: from old to new, from then to now, from single to duo, from couple to family, etc. The ceremony is what accomplishes this transition.
Since YOU are the one undergoing this transition, why not craft the ceremony to reflect who YOU are? It is possible to make a ceremony meaningful for you and for all those present. You may even attempt to please (almost) everyone, while still emphasizing what matters most to you: LOVE, A RELATIONSHIP, or A PERSONAL STORY. My approach is unique because I have been trained in the history and study of ceremony, tradition and ritual. With all this being said, what matters most is giving you the ceremony you want.
THE OFFICIANT
Finding the right officiant is important because the officiant does not only perform key functions in a ceremony. The officiant is, and should be, the one person standing with you, by you and for you.
Reasons you may choose an officiant: - To conduct the ceremony. - To help create the ceremony. - To advise and offer expertise. - Take on a leadership role. - To convey a feeling, mood or emotion. - To represent the occasion. - To represent individuals and/or organizations. - To represent you and/or other participants. - To be your ally and/or your guide during potentially stressful times.
YOUR ceremony needs to reflect YOUR personality, beliefs, and lifestyle. ALL philosophies, traditions, and beliefs are honored and included.
