Q: What kind of training have you had?
A: I am a graduate of the Celebrant USA Foundation and Institute program, with an emphasis on Marriage and Couples. My coursework extensively focused on the origins and history of ritual and ceremony, the construction of ceremonies, and the performance of ceremonies. I completed a Celebrant Business and Marketing course. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Chapman University. I am CPR certified with the American Heart Association. I have trained in broadcasting for nearly 20 years and in public speaking for over 10 years.
Q: May we see proof of your ordainment and qualification to solemnise marriages in the state of California?
A: YES. Please ask for proof here or in person during our meeting.
Q: Can we see samples of your work?
A: OF COURSE! I bring along a full ceremony to each face-to-face meeting with potential clients. I can also email all the examples you would like, once we have met in person.
Q: Do you have any ideas or suggestions about vows, rituals, traditions, or ??
A: YES. I will bring a list of customs and traditions to our meeting, based on our previous correspondence and communication. Once we have met, I can email you even more ideas. My training has provided me with a number of resources, and I have an extensive office library. You can also consult the *bibliography* on this website! If you give me the honour of creating and performing your ceremony, I do all the research for you.
Q: Do you provide ceremony day-of coordination?
A: YES. As a Celebrant/Officiant, I can serve as facilitator and organizer to coordinate the ceremony for you. I will provide a rundown, outline and/or cue sheet at the rehearsal, to ensure all elements meet your specifications. On the day of your ceremony, I arrive early at the venue to introduce myself and check in with ALL vendors (photographers, videographers, musicians, animal handlers, pyrotechnicians, etc.). There is no extra charge for this service.
Q: What if there is an emergency? Do you have backup?
A: YES. I have a network of officiants who will be available to perform the ceremony.
Q: What will you wear at the ceremony?
A: Nearly anything you want me to! However, I usually wear black as a standard, but I am open to suggestions.
Q: How do we make sure our ceremony can be heard by everyone?
A: Although most official venues will have a mic and PA (public address) system available, if you need one, a microphone and powered speaker will be supplied by me. There is no extra charge, but you must supply power/electrical outlet.
Q: Are you trained in the operation of an audio system?
A: YES. I have nearly 20 years experience with live sound situations. I received an Associate’s Degree in Radio/TV Broadcasting and Production. I also studied studio recording and live music.
Q: What about pre-marital counseling?
A: Pre-marital counseling is not required. However, I AM available for this purpose. Please note for professional reasons, i am unable to marry couples i counsel, due to conflict of interest. I am also involved in the marriage and family counseling community and I can refer you to other professionals should you need them. Please inquire about pre-marital counseling here.
