BOOK AN OFFICIANT TODAY: TOP WEDDING SOURCES SURVEYED
40% of surveyed wedding planning resources state ceremony officiants should be confirmed nine months or more in advance. With the busiest wedding season just a few months away, the time to book an officiant is now.  Newly engaged couples often overlook the importance of finding the right officiant to perform their ceremony.

Buena Park, CA  (www.ceremonyceremony.com) January 4, 2008 --  Over two dozen leading wedding books, magazines and websites recommend newly engaged couples should find and confirm an officiant to perform a wedding at least six months in advance.

Of the publications surveyed[1], 32% recommend booking an officiant twelve months or more in advance; 40% recommend booking at least nine months in advance; and 28% recommend booking an officiant six months or more before the ceremony.

“A person can plan his or her dream wedding to every last detail, but don’t forget the officiant!” says Venus Kitagawa-Stojsic, a certified Celebrant and ordained minister who officiates weddings throughout Southern California.

She continues, “Finding the right officiant takes time and effort, especially if a couple wants an officiant who doesn’t simply ‘go through the motions’.  At a wedding, all eyes are on the couple.  They will be with just their officiant, and maybe a few friends.  It’s important to find a rapport with the person who will be performing such an important ceremony.”

From the most lavish to the most intimate wedding, whether in a hotel ballroom, at the beach, or at home, a marriage cannot be made legal until an officiant signs the marriage license, according to California law.[2]  Many churches and synagogues supply a clergyperson for wedding ceremonies, but many secular or historical wedding venues do not.

Magazines in this survey included: Ceremony, Modern Bride, Bridal Guide, Orange County Bride, Contemporary Bride.  Books included: The Idiot’s Guide to a Perfect Wedding, The Everything Wedding Organizer, Ultimate Wedding Planning Guide, Easy Wedding Planning Plus.  Websites surveyed included: theknot.com, marthastewart.com, elegala.com, about.com.
